My name is John Sullivan, singer/songwriter, active member of ASCAP, rock novelist, freelance rock journalist and member of the Long Island Music Coalition.

I’m offering up my SONGWRITING TALENTS to rock bands, individuals and corporations, you name it -- that need my services.

Upon request, I can create a song OR a project for you by penning the lyrics and singing the lyrics (using either guitar or piano) AND add backing vocals, bass guitar, drums, keyboards, harmonica and effects where needed for a finished, home studio recording. Having recently converted my rehearsal space into a personalized recording studio, I’m able to record an infinite amount of tunes.

ABOUT SONGWRITER JOHN SULLIVAN

After graduation from St. John’s University with a Journalism degree, I have managed a dual career for more than two decades both as a Wall Street research marketing professional and as a singer/songwriter on the New York City metro indie rock circuit.

I studied classical piano with a Julliard graduate for several years, moved later in jazz bass with a graduate from Berklee before getting into the rock scene. In addition, I have played at numerous clubs and music festivals, performed with or on the bill with rock legends from The Who’s Roger Daltrey to Squeeze’s Glenn Tilbrook to Blue Oyster Cult, and have received press coverage from Newsday, All Music Guide, The New York Times, and many others. My classic rock band The John Sullivan Brigade recorded three CDs includling a 24-song, double CD “rock opera” and reside in Long Island’s Nassau County outside of New York City.

MY PROCESS

The process starts with a phone or email conversation, followed up with you in gathering whatever necessary information needed, then drawing up a contract to start, then me creating some ideas, you sign off, and soon I will have a home recording song in my studio for you to sample AND purchase as a finished product OR choosing to go into a full service recording studio and create a more professional version of the song (note: prices at a pro studio will vary based on time pre-arranged with client and studio and length of time).

FOR BANDS

The competition in the music industry has never been more challenging. Record labels have consolidated, clubs continue to close and reopen, the online stores have replaced the retail outlets, and radio has been divided up between terrestrial, satellite and internet. So the need to write the best songs possible is more important than ever before -- and that’s where I can help. And you can either purchase the songs I have provided and can get more involved in your project as it takes shape. I can also help with larger, conceptual records, especially with the lyric writing and conceptual ideas. Based on the amount of time you need, I will work out a deal that works within your band’s budget.

FOR INDIVIDUALS AND CORPORATIONS

For those not actively in the music business, writing and creating a song is a very personal process and it takes time to create the right balance of lyrics, melody, emotion and mystery. Having written dozens of songs over the years, I can create the right type of song that you’re looking for. Whether it’s writing a ballad for an old friend OR creating a melody for a commercial, I can produce whatever song you’re looking for.

My songwriting talents are such that if you have a special theme request, like writing a birthday song for a family member or someone you work with, that can be easily done as well.
